JUNIORS AT TRANSMOTO EVENTS – FAQS ANSWERED

How do Junior riders score an entry into a Transmoto Enduro Event?

Just like everybody else, Juniors pre-enter online (but probably with the help of their parent and/or guardian to fill out the digital entry form and make the payment). The entry fee is $50 per rider. If Junior riders do not have a current annual Junior MA Licence, they will need to pre-purchase a One Event Recreational Licence for $30 through the event’s online entry system.

Is it a race or ride?

It’s a fun ride; a non-competitive trail loop that’s staged on Saturday afternoon between 1 and 3pm.

What ages does it cater to?

The Junior loop is staged at selected events, with a limited number of entries available for kids aged between nine and 15. Any rider who is 16 as of the date of the event must enter Sunday’s race instead.

Which events will Juniors run at in 2024?

For 2024, a Junior Loop has been provisionally been added to the Cooby Dam (Qld), Clarence Valley (NSW) and Wangaratta (Vic) events.

What about sign-on and scrutineering and riders’ briefing?

Junior riders need to sign on between 10am and 12pm (accompanied by their guardian) and have their bike and helmet scrutineered on Saturday morning. Riders then meet near the start/finish archway at 12.30-12.45pm for a briefing, ready for the 1pm kick-off.

What’s the loop like?

This Junior loop is typically 6-8km in length, and incorporates a few sections of Sunday’s race loop. It remains close to the event’s HQ and includes a variety of natural-terrain grasstrack and bush tracks and trails. Sweep riders circulate at the top and tail of the field for the first couple of laps, after which kids can cut laps at their own pace.

Can Junior riders camp overnight at the venue?

For Junior riders and their parent(s) not connected and pitting with family/guardian/friends who’ve entered to race on Sunday, a small separate camping area will be set aside on Saturday night.

Can parents join in?

Parents or Guardians who would like to accompany their kid(s) on this short loop will also need to sign on as temporary sweep riders at the event’s HQ on Saturday morning, and ensure their own bike and helmet has also been through scrutineering.

Why did Transmoto introduce Juniors at selected events?

To help create a non-intimidating and accessible pathway for young riders to experience enduro racing in a fun, safe, family-oriented environment. The groms froth about getting the first crack at a few sections of the race track, and then get to hang around to play support crew and cheer squad for dad during Sunday’s endurance racing.
