2022 TRANSMOTO 8-HOUR @ WANGARATTA MOVES TO NOV 19-20
Sorry, folks. We’ve got good and bad news…
First, the shit sandwich: Due to severe and ongoing rainfall in the northeast Victoria over the past few months, the venue scheduled to host the 2022 Transmoto 8-Hour at Wangaratta this coming weekend is far too wet to proceed on September 24-25, and the tough call has been made in conjunction with the property owners and the Alpine MCC to reschedule the event.
The short of it is that the recent rainfall (close to 70mm over the past 11 days) – on top of a water table that’s already at 110% – has left the venue too soaked to manage the high number of riders and participants that would be moving in and out of the property. The residual damage to the venue would have been too great to go ahead under the current conditions.
Now, the mouthwash: After consultation with landowners, track-build crew, local council and Motorcycling Victoria, the revised date for the event has been confirmed for November 19-20, 2022.
YOUR OPTIONS…
So, what are your options as an existing Team, Pairs or Ironman entrant into the 2022 Transmoto 8-Hour at Wangaratta? You can:
- Do nothing, and the entry will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled date, November 19-20 (the benefit of which is that you’ll be assured of an entry into this sold-out event);
- If you need to make a rider(s) swap, you can change the team line-up by clicking here;
- Have your team captain request a team refund* using this link by midnight on Sunday, October 2 (at which time, the standard refund policy takes effect); or
- For any other enquiries, send us an email (getus@transmoto.com.au) and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
* NOTE: Refund requests will be processed within five (5) business days. Just bear in mind that, with most banks, it can take up to 10 working days for the funds to appear in your account.
WHY RESCHEDULING WAS UNAVOIDABLE…
As most of you who live on the Eastern Seaboard will know, this year has been insanely wet. The vast majority of farms where Transmoto events are held (in NSW, Vic. and Qld) have been affected in some way in 2022. It’s a far cry from the dry and dusty 2019, when this sort of rain would have been more than welcomed in the lead-up to an event.
Because these are predominantly farm paddock-based camping events, they just can’t handle the amount of car and truck traffic the event brings in if the ground is sodden. Our aim is to leave all properties we visit with as little impact as possible. And while a few ruts and bumps on the racetrack are to be expected (and encouraged!), significant and long-lasting traffic damage to the camping areas and paddocks isn’t.
We hope the vast majority of you can stick around for the new November date and retain your entry for this sold-out event because the race loop on this epic private property has to be seen to be believed. It boasts a mouth-watering combination of bush trails, technical hills and undulating grasstrack, with the Victorian High Country’s snow-capped Mount Beauty, Falls Creek and Mount Hotham serving as an eye-catching backdrop.
