2022 Transmoto 8-Hour at Young: Rescheduled to November 26-27
Sorry folks but get ready for a good old fashion shit sandwich. The venue scheduled to host the 2022 Transmoto 8-Hour at Young, on September 10-11, is far too wet to proceed on the current dates.
After a relatively average July rainfall around Young, things were really looking promising for the event to proceed as planned. Unfortunately, August has delivered over 115mm to the venue an additional 20mm at the property yesterday (Aug 29) has ruled out the possibility of going ahead.
After consultation with landowners, local council, and Motorcycling NSW a revised date has been set for November 26-27, 2022.
As most of you involved in offroad racing in NSW, Qld, and Vic would know, this year has been insanely wet. The vast majority of farms where Transmoto events are held across all three states have been affected in some way in 2022. It’s a far cry from 2019 when this rain would have been more than welcomed to ease the dry and dusty conditions!
For those new to racing on private properties, because these are predominantly farm paddock-based camping events, if the access is wet and the ground is soddened, they just can’t handle the amount of car and truck traffic the event brings in.
The aim is to leave all properties we visit with as minimal impact as possible, and while a few ruts and bumps on the racetrack are to be expected (and encouraged!), significant and long-lasting traffic damage to the camping areas and paddocks is not.
It’s been a frustrating year for events, and coming off a successful Transmoto 8-Hour at Miva Station in Queensland, we had hoped the momentum had shifted, but the water level at Young is just well above what is required to get everyone in and out without wrecking the place.
We hope the vast majority of you can stick around for the new November date and retain your entry for this sold-out event.
