It’s been anything but a happy new year for those living in the southeast corner of Australia, where catastrophic fires have destroyed millions of hectares of bushland and countless properties over the past couple of weeks.
The NSW South Coast was particularly hard hit and, unfortunately, the picturesque private properties at Buckenbowra – which have been home to the Transmoto 12-Hour for the past nine years – have been badly fire-damaged.
As a result, the 10th running of the Transmoto 12-Hour at this legendary venue (scheduled to be staged on February 29 – March 1) has been postponed until the weekend of October 31 – November 1.
Our thoughts are with the families and communities affected by this widespread natural disaster – many of which are our event partners and participants, and friends – and we look forward to being able to take the 12-Hour back to the region later in the year for its 10th anniversary; and in doing so, help support the local community in their rebuilding efforts.
In the short term, the best way to support people, fire services and wildlife affected by this catastrophic fire event is by donating cash. Here are a few options (alternatively you can research your own):
- Donate to the Red Cross-Appeal: https://www.redcross.org.au
- Donate to the Salvation Army: https://www.salvationarmy.org.au
- Donate to the Batemans Bay Rural Fire Service – type in Batemans Bay in the search box on Credit Card form here: https://quickweb.westpac.com.au
- Donate to WIRES (Emergency Fund for Wildlife): https://www.facebook.com/donate
The first Transmoto Enduro Event of the year will now be the 2020 Transmoto 8-Hour at Coffs Harbour on April 4-5. Stay tuned to the Transmoto Event’s website for updates.
