2022 TRANSMOTO 8-HOUR @ MIVA: TO BE RESCHEDULED
Now that we’ve all emerged from the abysmal weather system that caused widespread flooding in Queensland last week, we wanted to provide everyone entered in the Transmoto 8-Hour at Miva Station with a couple of important updates – about what led to the Saturday morning call to cancel the event, and your options once the event’s rescheduled date has been announced.
THE CANCELLATION…
In spite of significant rainfall across an extensive area of Queensland late last week, the event site at Miva Station copped very little rain and remained in good shape to run the event (albeit with a few mods to the race loop). Hence the Friday lunchtime call that – after consultation with landowners, Motorcycling Queensland, track builders and event operators – the 8-Hour would go ahead on the weekend as planned.
Unfortunately, God went and put a backhoe through the upstairs water main on Friday night, dumping much more rain than even the worst forecasts. And by Saturday morning, this had prompted the BOM and SES to revise their predictions for water levels and the extent of road closures in the Gympie region.
Sure enough, by late morning on Saturday, all bridges in Gympie (the main bridge on the Bruce Highway and those used on the Gympie detour routes) were in fact underwater. Surrounding back roads were also severely affected by flash flooding from localised run-off. As this coincided with when a majority of riders would have been en route to the event, there was no option but to red flag it.
We understand entrants’ disappointment with the decision because we’re right there with you. Equally, we appreciate everyone’s understanding, given the trying circumstances.
RESCHEDULED DATE & ENTRANTS’ OPTIONS…
The good news is that we are already well down the track with securing a rescheduled 2022 date for the Transmoto 8-Hour at Miva Station and expect to be able to announce that in the coming days.
At that time, we’ll outline your options as an existing Team, Pairs or Ironman entry: to either request a refund or automatically transfer your entry to the revised event date.
We really hope a greater majority of you who scored a prized entry into the inaugural running of the Transmoto 8-Hour at Miva Station will be able to make the new date because the race loop on this 8000-acre private property (much of which is rolling grasstrack that borders the Mary River and huge sugar cane fields) has got to be seen to be believed!
Stay tuned,
– The Transmoto Crew
NOTE: Event Hoodies – If you pre-ordered an event hoodie, it will be sent out to your address via post/courier later this week.
