There’s no arguing that the ultimate weekend getaway combines riding and road-tripping. Add a picturesque view and the company of your best mates, you really couldn’t ask for anything better. And luckily, we know just how to tick all those boxes.
Nestled on an epic private, 650-acre patch of fertile terra firma, the Transmoto 8-Hour at Macleay Valley boasts some of the loamiest (and rock-free!) alluvial soil on Australia’s eastern seaboard. Its 16km race loop weaves through a mesmerising combo of tree-lined trail and flowing grasstrack, hosting some of the primest riding terrain you can get your mitts on.
Off the bike, the location is also just as top notch. Taking place just 20km northwest of Kempsey in the Mid North Coast region of NSW, the Macleay Valley region itself – originally established as a timber and dairy hub, and famous for being home to Aussie icons, Slim Dusty and the Akubra hat – retains many of its historic buildings as a vestige of its past. These days, the area is best known for its wineries, its picturesque townships and eateries on the banks of the Macleay River, its abundance of national parks, and its proximity to the beautiful beaches of the Macleay Valley Coast. A road tripper’s heaven, really.
The best part, though? It’s an unforgettable weekend away with your mates. Race it or ride it; run a motocross weapon or trail sled; fly in and fly out or make a weekend’s surf-and-moto road trip out of it, it’s totally up to you. With an atmosphere second to none, while being surrounded by others sharing the same passion, it’s an experience only a Transmoto 8-Hour can provide.
A 6-8km non-competitive Juniors/Ladies Loop will also run on Saturday, June 21, so there’s also something for the whole family!
